What a joy are childhood friends? Seriously. I just can’t stop gushing about the long weekend in June we spent celebrating Alyssa and Nathaniel. It was full of simple beauty and sweet details. It was a dream. Truly.
Alyssa and I have been friends since the 3rd grade. THIRD grade, people. When she and her family moved to our little town of Chester all 30ish of us who had already been through Kindergarten thru 2nd grade together were uber curious about the tiny, smart, and quiet new girl who joined our tribe and were determined to make her like us.
Nearly 20 years later, I’m so happy to say she has been one of my dearest friends – we’ve seen each other through it all, from those very first days of 3rd grade to our graduation days at Chester High School & Augustana College to the beginning of our journey as adults and now married women. I simply couldn’t imagine a better match for Alyssa than Nathaniel. They are the kind of people you yearn to be around. The kind of people you want to surround yourself with because their simple, unassuming, and disarming kindness and joy envelop you and make you strive to be your best. Their families are no different, welcoming us in with open arms as if we were their own. (Which, in the case of Alyssa’s family, they are like a second family for both my brother and I. :))
I was through-the-roof thrilled when Alyssa and Nathaniel asked me to helping them coordinate their wedding day. The honor and responsibility of it was overwhelming and so exciting. The entire weekend was a taste of something so beautiful, something I could feel way down into my soul calling to me. I am deep in the middle of figuring out what I am meant to do, and by asking me to be a part of their wedding day, Alyssa and Nathaniel blessed me with insight to a pretty good idea.
More will be coming on all this in the weeks and months to come, but for now, here’s a look at Alyssa & Nathaniel’s beautiful day. I am still kicking myself because Dave and I were so busy we completely forgot to take any photos! That certainly was a good problem to have, though, because nothing I could’ve taken would be anywhere near as breathtaking as these beautiful images by Equals D Photography. Alyssa & Nathaniel, I wish you all the love and joy in the world. Congratulations, you two.
