I’m back in South Dakota right now and loving every second of it!! I surprised my mom – the look on her face was priceless, her exact words being “what the hell!?” 🙂 It was so great. We’ve gone on walks and had talks… and it’s only day 1! Home is a good place to write. It’s an even better place to read. Many, MANY of my favorite books were first read in this house, my childhood home. So many memories. Speaking of, I just dug out my old porcelain doll collection – but that’s for another day.
I have always been a reader. Books make my heart so happy. Lucky for me, I have been blessed with what my family refers to as the Brende Memory – so I can happily read my favorites over and over and over again and still enjoy every last word – not remembering a thing that happens. The Brende Memory is not good for anything else. Remembering dates, names, directions, places, things I do or say – not good for any of that. My other Gramma, Lois and I swapsies our favorite books all the time: Gramma, you would LOVE any of these!!
This list isn’t based on anything but the simple fact that when I go to pull a book from my shelf, these are the ones I choose most often. If you asked me for a suggestion, I’d likely pick from this list. I’m not a literary genius, I just really enjoy reading.
These are ten of my favorites, in no particular order. Not kidding, I can – and have – read them over and over again.
