i made a video!

I’ve got so darn much to share in the next couple weeks! SO. MUCH. I’m feeling a blogging comeback. Sometimes I don’t write because I don’t have much to share, but this time I haven’t been writing because there is too much – SO much – that I don’t even know where to begin. So, I’ve been pretty silent. More on that -and everything else – soon, though! πŸ™‚ Trust me, it’s gooooood.

Almost exactly a year ago Dave and I ventured out to rural South Dakota – which isn’t hard, nearly then whole state is rural – to shoot a little HIRE ME video to send out to creative Colorado Springs companies prior to our move. πŸ™‚ We had a lot of fun brainstorming and filming it, and I tell ya what, he sure comes in handy whenever a girl needs a new video! Not quite a resume, but professional enough to send to prospective employers in creative fields, I’m pretty confident it helped me land my great job at the store. πŸ™‚

Too bad, so sad for you, Dave recently took the link off his Vimeo account, so I can’t show it to you. It was kind of long. And REALLY wordy. And felt forced and awkward. So, I’m not too broken up about it that I can’t share it with you. Aw, darn.

For the kind of jobs I was looking for, a written resume and cover letter alone could only go so far. I’ve learned that no matter how well written my cover letter is or how good my resume looks, there are LOTS of people who can also provide that same thing. What makes me a little different is that not everyone has a ridiculously talented husband to produce a high quality, FANTASTIC video for them. That’s what can help set me apart. That’s what makes me more than another name in a stack of boring black and white resumes. That’s what gets hiring managers to take another look and who I am and what I can offer them.

At least, that’s what I hoped. πŸ™‚

We decided it’d be fun (and hopefully hugely helpful!) to make a new resume video! I’m SO happy with how it turned out. A huge thank you to Dave for all his hard work!!

Funny enough, this video wasn’t what landed meΒ my two – yes, TWO – new part time jobs. (More on those later!) BUT, lucky for me, it doubles as a fun addition to my blog! Just a few quick audio changes to the end and it’s perfect for my homepage! πŸ™‚ Click the Play button below to take a look! Processed with VSCOcam with m3 preset
